Submitted on Review title of UnknownBidding FailuresI had a J clubs, A J 9 7 5 2 spades, and K 9 7 5 4 2 hearts, and opened one spade, and everyone else passed, even though my partner had A 5 clubs, K 10 8 5 4 diamonds, 3 spades, and A Q J 10 3. This bridge app needs to fix the bidding phase, because faulty computer players are forcing me into bad contracts. Also, sometimes, my partner has something like Q J 8 6 clubs, K 7 diamonds, A K 10 8 spades, and J 10 9 hearts, and opens with 1 club.
When I have something like 9 4 clubs, A 6 5 diamonds, Q J 9 6 4 spades, and K 8 3 hearts, I properly respond with 1 spade. But then, its pretty obvious that we have a great fit, and he'll leave me in 1 spade, and we eventually make 6 spades. Until these annoying bidding problems are fixed, I won't play this game an more. Also, the double and redouble features don't work. Submitted on 4/1/2014 Review title of Billreally poor card playingI'd been looking for a bridge game for a while now.
How To Play Bridge With 2 Players
This isn't it.the computers' bidding rules are simple and it will often pass when you've made a demand bid. It also knows very few conventions (nor you can you configure any). It's play, especially on defense, is very bad. It misses signals, and doesn't keep track of cards that have been played. For example, on defense it led a suit already bled out to give declarer an undeserved cross-ruff to dump losers (twice in the same hand).
Broadly speaking, there are two types of bridge played today. 'Contract bridge' (i.e. 'rubber bridge') is the most popular form, played by four players.
'Duplicate bridge' is a tournament format that still incorporates four players at a table, but allows for many tables to compete against each other.Contract Bridge is an auction and trick-taking card game for four players. The aim of the game is to earn points by winning as many tricks as possible. The players are divided into two teams of two. Each player is designated a compass direction, with partners sitting opposite each other (i.e. East-West will play against North-South). The game is played with a single standard 52-card deck. While Rubber Bridge is undeniably a game of skill, the random of deal of the cards can affect the outcome in the short-run, making it unsuitable for large scale competitive play. To circumvent this, Duplicate Bridge is played in clubs and tournaments.
Instead of shuffling the cards between each deal, the hands are preserved and played by every pair or team. Then the teams' relative performances are judged.
Basics Of Bridge Card Game
This makes for a much fairer game, where runs of high cards are irrelevant, and every hand can be crucial.Photo credits: Contract Bridge: Jeff Arris, Duplicate Bridge: Anne-Marie Visser.
