However, at the next scheduled back-up sequence bacula error flagged the last tape volume because it did not contain the number of files expected by the catalogue. Of course because the recovered I believe you can use bscan to scan the tape and have the 'number of files' value in the catalog adjusted. There is no need for that when the cause of such an error is known, suchas in this case (aborted backup)Simply 'Update' the volume with the number of files reported and toggle itinto append mode.Bscan will insert the aborted job's files into the catalogue - which isusually innappropriate.AB. Likewise, you should be able to use bscan to scan the tapes that contain backups and have the metadata imported into the catalog. (have a look at the manual for further details on how to use bscan)Greetings,Michel. Hello,On 9:50 AM, Erik P. Olsen wrote: Hi all, Yesterday night my back-up was terminated due to a power cut.
Two out of three systems had their back-ups duly finished, only the third system and the catalogue back-ups were not taken. The power cut occurred in the midst of the third system back-up.
When I restarted the systems I was unable to start the back-ups because the catalogue was broken. I then did a catalogue recovery and bacula now started without any visible problem. However, at the next scheduled back-up sequence bacula error flagged the last tape volume because it did not contain the number of files expected by the catalogue. Of course because the recovered catalogue reflected the status before the back-up sequence in which the power cut occurred. The problem is minor. I labeled a new tape volume and the back-up sequence ran to completion without any errors, so I have again consistent back-up of my systems.
I would, however, like to know if there is a way of recovering the two missing back-up jobs, so I don't have to delete a tape with valid back-up files. The simple solution is to simply set the affected volume to volstatusUsed. It will then be recycled normally. The more difficult one is to set the number of files on tapecorrespondingly in the catalog - the information should be in the errormessage - and the volstatus to Append.

This has the advantage thatremaining tape capacity will be used, but of course every manualintervention can result in new errors. As tapes are cheap, and Iusually have spare ones at hand, I prefer the first solution. You should delete the failed jobs from the catalog in any case.Arno Regards,-IT-Service Lehmann al@.Arno Lehmann. I suggest also using 'delete jobid' if there are jobs in the catalog that are not on the tape. Cheers. It would be useful if you can figure out how/when it happened too (e.g. If you have a bad tape). It would; the fact that someone managed to knock the cable to the library loose may have had something to do with it, but I'm not certain; it wouldn't really account for two tapes being in error.
Both tapes are in the same pool though, which only services a single client; one which is on the other side of a flakey connection, could have some impact, I guess. That looks like setting the volstatus to 'Used' is the best decision. The volumes will then be recycled as normal. I'll check both the tapes for errors though. You know what to do when you see tape errors, I assume.
The procedureto completely remove them from the catalog is a simple 'delete volume='command, btw.Arno Martin-Take Surveys. Subject: Question of New Bacula User Hi, Would you kindly help me? I am a new Bacula user, and I have completed the installation of Bacula.
I use the default configuration files almost. There are some error messages display on the 'Bacula tray monitor' when I execute the command 'Bacula-tray-monitor'. The error messages as following, For item 'backup-dir(DIR)', there are two lamps, one is red and another is green.
And show error message as 'Current job:.status error: You must specify a 'use ' command before continue. For items 'backup-fd' and 'backup-sd', the messages are no lamp and no current job. Could you help me to solve the problem and teach me to complete one simple backup job? I have modified three configuration files, bacula-dir.conf, bacula-fd.conf and bacula-sd.conf.I suspect that you have two Catalog resource definitions, so tray-monitor getsconfused.
Either remove one of them and it should work, or upgrade to1.39.32. In upgrading to 1.39.32, it will automatically use the firstCatalog resource it finds, and for it to work, you must add a 'CatalogACLxxx' where xxx is the name of that catalog resource.Neither solution is 100% satisfactory, but that is the best we can do for now.
